Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with HXP Circuit.

Ordering & Lead Times

What is the lead time for prototype PCBs?

Our standard prototype lead times are:

  • Standard 2-4 layer PCBs: 24-48 hours (express) / 3-5 days (economy)
  • 6-8 layer PCBs: 3-5 days (express) / 5-7 days (standard)
  • 10-20 layer PCBs: 5-7 days
  • HDI & Rigid-Flex: 5-10 days depending on complexity

Mass production lead times typically range from 7-15 business days. Contact us for specific timelines based on your project requirements.

What file formats do you accept for PCB fabrication?

We accept the following industry-standard file formats:

  • Gerber: RS-274X (preferred) or RS-274D
  • ODB++: Full design database
  • IPC-2581: Industry standard format
  • Excellon: NC drill files

We also accept Altium, Eagle, KiCad, OrCAD, and PADS native projects. Our engineering team will run a comprehensive DFM check on your files at no charge.

Do you have a minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

No MOQ for prototypes. We accept orders as small as 1-5 boards for prototyping. For mass production, we typically recommend minimum quantities of 50-100 boards for the most cost-effective pricing, but we can accommodate smaller runs upon request.

How do I request a quote?

You can request a quote through our online quote form or email your PCB design files directly to sales@hxpcircuit.hk. For an accurate quote, please include:

  • Board dimensions and layer count
  • Material requirements (FR-4, Rogers, polyimide, etc.)
  • Quantity needed
  • Surface finish preference
  • Copper weight and board thickness
  • Any special requirements (impedance control, etc.)

We typically respond with a detailed quote within 2-4 hours during business hours.

Manufacturing Capabilities

What PCB materials do you support?

We work with a wide range of PCB materials:

  • FR-4: Standard Tg (140°C), High-Tg (170°C), and Ultra-High Tg (180°C+)
  • High-Frequency: Rogers 3003/4003/4350/5880, Taconic, Arlon
  • Polyimide: For flex and rigid-flex applications
  • Aluminum MCPCB: 5052, 6061, 6063 aluminum cores
  • Specialty: PTFE, Ceramic-filled, Halogen-free, Low-loss materials

Contact our engineering team for material recommendations based on your application's electrical and thermal requirements.

What is the maximum number of PCB layers you can produce?

We can manufacture PCBs with up to 32 layers for standard rigid boards, up to 20 layers with HDI technology, and up to 6 flexible layers combined with rigid sections in rigid-flex constructions.

Do you offer impedance control?

Yes. We offer controlled impedance manufacturing with ±10% tolerance (standard) and ±5% (tight control available). We can match single-ended and differential impedance requirements including 50Ω, 75Ω, 90Ω, 100Ω, and 120Ω. Our engineering team models your stackup before production and verifies with TDR testing on coupon panels.

What surface finishes are available?

  • HASL (Hot Air Solder Leveling): Lead-free or leaded, most economical
  • ENIG (Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold): Best for fine-pitch and gold wire bonding
  • OSP (Organic Solderability Preservative): Flat surface, RoHS compliant
  • Immersion Silver: Good for high-frequency applications
  • Immersion Tin: Flat surface, good for press-fit connectors
  • ENEPIG: For mixed soldering and wire bonding requirements
  • Hard Gold: For edge connectors and contact fingers

Quality & Certification

What certifications does HXP Circuit hold?

HXP Circuit is proud to be certified to the following standards:

  • UL Recognition: UL 94V-0 flame retardant rating
  • ISO 9001:2015: Quality management system
  • IPC-6012 Class 2/3: Rigid PCB qualification
  • IPC-6013 Class 2/3: Flexible and rigid-flex qualification
  • RoHS & REACH: Full compliance with EU directives

How do you ensure PCB quality?

Our quality assurance process includes multiple inspection stages:

  • Incoming QC: Raw material verification and testing
  • AOI (Automated Optical Inspection): 100% inner and outer layer inspection
  • X-Ray Inspection: For multilayer registration and via integrity
  • Electrical Testing: 100% flying probe or fixture testing
  • Micro-section Analysis: Cross-sectional analysis per IPC-A-600
  • Final Visual Inspection: IPC-A-600 Class 2/3 criteria

We also provide detailed inspection reports with your shipment upon request.

Do you provide test reports and certifications?

Yes. The following documents are available with every order:

  • Electrical test report (100% flying probe)
  • Impedance test report (if applicable)
  • Material certification (upon request)
  • Solderability test report
  • Micro-section analysis report (upon request)
  • Certificate of Compliance (CoC)
